ALL ADULT LEVELS

Our All Adult Levels class is open to any students in our adult program. This is a combination class that will primarily focus on tasks from our Middle School-College Level curriculum, giving students an opportunity to learn something new or practice some of the behaviors your dogs first learned at BlueDog! Please bring dogs on a flat buckle collar or harness and a short 4-6ft leash. No flexi-leashes and remember not to let your dog approach unknown dogs.

ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

Our Elementary/Level 1 Adult class is where all dogs over 7mos begin their education here at BlueDog. This is a foundation class focusing on calmness around other dogs and distractions, basic commands such as sit, down, heel, name recognition, touch, leave-it and drop-it, and above all else, relationship building for you and your dog. You will learn how Clicker and Marker training work to positively reinforce behaviors you like, while receiving coaching on how to work your dogs through unwanted behaviors. Please bring dogs on a flat buckle collar or harness and a short 4-6ft leash. No flexi-leashes and remember not to let your dog approach unknown dogs.

MIDDLE SCHOOL

Our Middle School/Level 2 manners class is for Elementary Graduates continuing their training. Learn new behaviors like stay and wait, loose leash walking, how to greet people politely, recall and settle on your bed. You will also learn about shaping behaviors with your clickers and using different marker words for calm behaviors. Please bring dogs on a flat buckle collar or harness and a short 4-6ft leash. No flexi-leashes and remember not to let your dog approach unknown dogs.

ELEMENTARY/MIDDLE SCHOOL COMBO

This is a combination class for all Elementary and Middle School students. Please bring dogs on a flat buckle collar or harness and a short 4-6ft leash. No flexi-leashes and remember not to let your dog approach unknown dogs

HIGH SCHOOL

Our High School/Level 3 Adult class is for Middle School graduates. This level begins adding more challenges and distractions to the foundation behaviors learned in Levels 1&2. Add distance and duration to your stay and settle commands. Perfect your loose leash walking and greetings with people and other dogs on leash. You will work on more challenging waits, recalls and leave-its as well. Begin using intermittent reinforcement for those behaviors your dog already knows to ensure he is always kept on his toes. Please bring dogs on a flat buckle collar or harness and a short 4-6ft leash. No flexi-leashes and remember not to let your dog approach unknown dogs.

COLLEGE

Our College/Level 4 Adult class is for High School graduates working toward their Canine Good Citizenship. This class will focus on fading treats while continuing to challenge you and your dog with greater distractions. Does your dog rely on seeing your treat pouch in order to perform? This class will work on fading the use of a treat pouch as well so you are prepared to take your College Exam and to further prepare you for your AKC Canine Good Citizen Test. Please bring dogs on a flat buckle collar or harness and a short 4-6ft leash. No flexi-leashes and remember not to let your dog approach unknown dogs.

HIGH SCHOOL/COLLEGE COMBO

Our High School/College Combo class is for any students in High School or College. This class will work on curriculums from both levels, utilizing more distractions to help dogs better generalize behaviors. Please bring dogs on a flat buckle collar or harness and a short 4-6ft leash. No flexi-leashes and remember not to let your dog approach unknown dogs.

ALL ADULT GAMES AND TRICKS!

Games and Tricks! class at BlueDog is your chance to challenge your dogs in some fun, competitive games and work toward your AKC Trick Dog Titles (https://www.akc.org/sports/trick-dog/)! This class is always geared toward fun but does require some prior training (sit, down and stay/wait), so it is not recommended as a first class. It is open to all levels from Elementary to College. Please bring dogs on a flat buckle collar or harness and a short 4-6ft leash. No flexi-leashes and remember not to let your dog approach unknown dogs.

CHARM SCHOOL

Charm School is open to all dogs between the ages of 6months to 2years. This adolescent/teenager stage is often a challenging time for new owners. Even if you’ve raised many puppies into adulthood before, the challenges owners face during this stage of development can be overwhelming. However, BlueDog is here to help! This class will discuss all things teenager, focusing on the importance of mental stimulation, and work on teaching your pups attention, impulse control, focus around distractions and proper on-leash behavior with other dogs. Please bring dogs on a flat buckle collar or harness and a short 4-6ft leash. No flexi-leashes and remember not to let your dog approach unknown dogs.

AROUND THE TOWN

This class meets at the Andover Common on the cross streets of Chestnut Street and Bartlett Street in Andover during the warmer months. You and your pup will have an opportunity to learn to walk in a group with various every day distractions like cars, people and nature! Take a spin around the Common and then enjoy a pack walk through Downtown Andover. This class doesn't require any previous skills, but may be difficult for young or more reserved puppies and dogs.

ALL ADULTS EXAM NIGHT!

Our Adult Exam classes are your opportunity to test out and move on to the next level. The exams are structured similar to the AKC Canine Good Citizen test, where all items must be performed in succession. Each individual behavior must be performed three times in a row, with no treats in your hand, though Clicking&Treating after each behavior is permitted. High School level students are permitted to give one treat after each set of behaviors. College level students are permitted to give one treat after each set of behaviors and cannot carry a treat pouch for the exam (i.e. there are x number of behaviors to complete, you may bring x number of treats). Do not be discouraged if your dog doesn’t pass his first exam! Each dog learns at his own pace and training should always be fun, first and foremost! Please bring dogs on a flat buckle collar or harness and a short 4-6ft leash. No flexi-leashes and remember not to let your dog approach unknown dogs.
